Contemporary Aboriginal Acrylic Paintings tell the dreaming stories of the land and plants of ”the Dreaming” time when these totemic ancestors awoke and broke through the surface of the earth to bring all existence into being. An artist’s totem is passed down through generations since before time. Individual and tribal identity is informed by the spiritual qualities of each mythical being and the specific places where that dreaming takes place continuously *
The history of contemporary aboriginal art began in the 1970’s with the introduction of modern acrylics and canvas to the remote outback areas of the Northern Territory, Australia. Many of the artists in this exhibit have been internationally recognized with work in American, European, and Australian collections.
SALES: All work is certified to be authentic and not mass produced. Paintings are sold with a certificate and a photo of the artist holding the painting when available. Please note that small defects, smudges and splatters are characteristic of Aboriginal Acrylic Paintings.

“The artists paint in absolute squalor, with kids and dogs running all over the painting. ..against the odds really. The uniqueness of this art is that it is produced by people who until recently lived in the Stone Age... In areas like this many people grew up traditionally until recently some never meeting a white person until they were grown up.”
